The Pothos — sometimes called “Devil’s Ivy” because it refuses to die even in near-darkness — is the plant I recommend to absolutely everyone starting out. Trailing, fast-growing, and available in a dozen beautiful varieties, it earns its place in any home.
Plant Care 🌱
Sunlight
Adapts to almost anything, from bright indirect light to low-light corners. The more variegated the leaf, the more light it needs to keep its pattern.
Watering
Water when the top half of the soil is dry. It wilts dramatically when thirsty but bounces back quickly once watered — it’ll teach you its own rhythm.
Pet-friendly?
No. Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested (best kept on a high shelf).
tips
Trim long trailing vines to encourage bushier growth. Propagating cuttings in water is almost foolproof — a great way to multiply your collection or share with friends. Clean the leaves occasionally to keep them glossy.
