Baby Pothos turns 5, so not a baby anymore

Back in February 2021, I visited my parents while I was still living in Germany and came home with a tiny Pothos sapling from my mum. She loves Pothos โ€” they spread all around her house, tucked into little hidden corners like quiet green secrets.

It had one root and maybe 5 or 6 leaves. Literally a baby. ๐Ÿƒ

I found it the perfect spot by the window, since Munich is nowhere near as sunny as Spain, and it was still the middle of winter. It thrived anyway.

I soon realised just how wildly Pothos grow. You need to constantly groom them and move them higher โ€” to a shelf, a stand, somewhere with more room. New stems were appearing everywhere, and the most beautiful part was that some leaves started developing white swirly patterns, catching more sun than I’d anticipated.

When we moved to a new place in Munich, of course it had to come too โ€” and be elevated again. It was a proper waterfall by then.

Around that time we did a long trip to the USA, and our plant sitter overwatered pretty much everything. My then-toddler Pothos took a bit of damage, so when I eventually repotted it, I merged two small saplings together with the mother plant to help it recover.

Fast forward to today โ€” this Pothos is the undisputed star of my office. It gets a shout-out from colleagues on video calls more often than I do. And honestly, look at it. It’s so bushy and lush, and I barely give it fertilizer. I guess nurturing with love really is enough.

From mum to daughter โ€” that’s the story of my beautiful Pothos.
